The openly gay Israeli TV personality was one of the four hosts who presented the Eurovision Song Contest in Tel Aviv on Saturday, May 18th. According to Jewish News, Azar donated his £ 23,000 ESC salary (approximately € 26,000) to Israeli Gay Youth, one of the most important LGBT + charities in Israel.

The host explained that he would have presented the competition for free. He said: "Presenting the Eurovision for money is definitely something that I will not do. It is my pride to represent the country with respect. If you can do something good with the salary they pay, why not?" "

The host said that he has supported the Israeli Gay Youth for years. "It goes without saying that I will do everything I can to help with the holy work that [Israeli Gay Youth] does." He added: "These groups serve as a safe place for thousands of teenagers from around the country, where they can meet, discuss things and solve problems that concern them, especially with regard to gay issues."
