Four men revealed that they were illegally arrested between December and February during the latest anti-LGBT crackdown in the country. They described being kicked and beaten with sticks and pipes by the police officers. Three of the four men also said that they were tortured with electric shocks.

One of the men said the following: “They made me kneel on the floor and put metal clips on my thumbs, he turned the knob [of the electric shock device], first slowly and then faster and faster… With every turn, my hands bounced up and excruciating pain went through them.”

One of the victims even revealed that the police officers raped him with a stick. The men were tortured for information regarding the identities of other gay men. During their captivity, no food was provided and they had limited access to water.
