Polish LGBT people recreate Taylor Swift video in response to anti-LGBT zones

Around 140 Polish LGBT people and allies have made their own version of Taylor Swift's "You Need To Calm Down" music video in response to the increasing homo- and transphobia in the country. The Polish government is currently supporting "LGBT-free zones" and a Pride parade in Bialystok was violently disrupted by, among other groups, nationalist football fans.

Polish LGBT activists and allies have made their own version of Taylor Swift's "You Need To Calm Down" in response to the "LGBT-free zones" created by the Polish government. Like the original video by Taylor Swift, the new version includes famous LGBT people and allies in Poland, including vice-president of Warsaw Patryk Rabiej and European Parliament member Robert Biedron.

The video was made by husbands Jakub and David. Without a budget, they asked people to record themselves while they sang the song. Eventually they received around 350 videos from 140 people. David said: “Considering a huge scale of homophobia in our country, it is 140 brave people.”

In Poland, there has been an increase in homophobic attacks in recent months (such as the anti-gay riots during the Pride parade in Bialystok). The government is also supporting "LGBT-free zones" throughout the country, which means that people who identify themselves as LGBT + cannot enter these areas. At the end of the video, they explain how Poland is becoming one of the most homophobic countries in Europe.
