India: High court dismisses plea for gay marriage
Unfortunately the High Court rejected the plea and said that they are not in the position to draft such laws. According to the High Court, it is up the parliament of India to draft and pass laws. Also, the High Court claims that they are not able to direct parliament into drafting laws. The High Court refused to form a commission on the issue as well.
While gay sex was finally legalized in the country last year, the LGBT+ community in India is still unprotected without an anti-discrimination legislation. Besides the lack of marriage equality, many LGBT+ people still face many forms of discrimination on a daily basis.
