It's official – our viewers have spoken! Swedish pop group KAJ has won the OUTmusic Award 2025. With their catchy track “Bara Bada Bastu” – Sweden’s first Swedish-language entry in decades – they’ve captured the hearts of the LGBTQI+ community across Europe and are now seen as strong contenders for Eurovision in Basel.

Swedish sauna-pop wins over the crowd

KAJ stands out with their joyful and original performance. The OUTmusic Award – our annual public vote chosen by LGBTQI+ viewers across Europe – has clearly gone to Sweden this year. This award has proven power: over the last 15 years, every winner has placed in Eurovision’s top 3, with ten of them taking home the actual trophy.

“Everyone is welcome in our sauna!”

During an exclusive backstage interview with OUTtv presenter GJ Kooijman, just ahead of their second rehearsal in Basel, Kevin, Axel and Jakob received the award. Their reactions were full of pride, humor and heart:

Jakob: “This is amazing! If I had to sum up my feelings in one word: Pride.”

Kevin: “Having the support of the LGBTQI+ community means the world to us. We just want to be ourselves, and hope the audience feels free to do the same.”

Jakob (smiling): “Everyone is welcome in our sauna!”

Axel: “Awards like these make me happy – but there’s still space on my bookshelf. Maybe soon for that big glass Eurovision trophy?”
