OUTtv, together with Visit Valencia and the organising committee of the Gay Games Valencia 2026, travelled to the city to see how one of this summer’s largest international LGBTIQ+ events is taking shape. From 27 June to 4 July, thousands of participants will compete across more than 40 sports — from athletics and swimming to football, dance and cheerleading — all open to every level of ability.
Participation is open to everyone via registration on the official Gay Games website. Beyond competition, the event will transform Valencia into a vibrant hub of culture, music and community, creating a unique moment of visibility and connection.
In addition to the sporting programme, the Gay Games will turn the city into a wide-ranging cultural experience, with music, performances, film, art and community events taking place across Valencia. The opening ceremony on 27 June at the Estadi Ciutat de València will launch the Games with an international parade of participants and live performances, setting the tone for a week where sport, culture and community come together.
The event is open to all — whether as athletes, volunteers or visitors. No professional level is required; the focus is on participation and belonging.
Registration is available via the official website:
