Tel Aviv Calling: Update

It’s confirmed: Madonna will perform in Tel Aviv!

The rumours have been circulating for some time. But now, this dream appears to become a reality: Madonna will perform during the Eurovision Song Contest in Tel Aviv! This will be the fourth time the Queen of Pop will take the stage in Israel. Several sources report that Israeli broadcaster KAN confirmed the news.

The iconic singer is said to perform two songs. One of these will be one of her many classics, but we will have to wait to find out which song she’ll perform. We will also hear a new Madonna tune during the largest European music festival. We’ve known for some time that the singer has been working on a new album, but the idea of hearing new music is coming much closer now!

Obviously, getting an artist of Madonna’s caliber doesn’t come cheap: Haaretz claims that the performance will cost $1 million. Israeli-Canadian billionaire Sylvan Adam is apparently financing her performance. He said the following regarding his motivation for this: “I am excited and proud to host Madonna in Israel and bring her to the Eurovision. I believe that her participation in the event will dramatically enhance the media exposure that the State of Israel will receive and will contribute significantly to the success of the Eurovision Song Contest and the branding of Israel in the world.”

Eurovision in Amsterdam!

Past weekend, Amsterdam was all about the Eurovision Song Contest. Amsterdam Calling took place on Friday night in De Melkweg. Here we saw previous contestants from the past years take the stage. De musical performances this year were done by Linda Martin (winner Ireland 1992, runner-up in 1984), SuRie (UK, 2018), Hera Björk (Iceland, 2010), IMRI (Israel, 2017), Ryan O’Shaugnessy (Ireland,2018), Ronnie Tober (The Netherlands, 1968), Eye Cue (Noord-Macedonia, 2018) and Laura Vlasblom (The Netherlands, 1986). On Saturday night 28 Eurovision artists visited the Dutch capitol to show everyone what they can do. The spectacle took place in the AFAS and can be seen as a fantastic rehearsal of sorts before heading to the musical festivities in Tel Aviv.

No worries if you were unable to attend: on April 17th and 24th, OUTtv will broadcast the Amsterdam Calling concert. And on May 1st and 8th you will be able to experience Eurovision in Concert on OUTtv! Both programs also consist of exclusive interviews with some of the artists, so be sure to tune in!
