Mother calls homosexuality a choice on British TV

Montague appeared on the morning talk show with gay parent Tom Cox to discuss the parents who have been protesting against informative LGBTQ classes in Birmingham schools. During the debate Tom said: “You’re born with your sexual preference, you are gay or you’re not.” This is when Montague started shaking her head and rolling her eyes in response. She then went on a tirade, saying that people aren’t born that way and that homosexuality is a choice.

“I don’t agree that you’re born anything. Of course, I believe it’s a choice. I made a choice of what I believe is right or wrong, I don’t remember ever thinking to myself, ‘Am I gay or am I straight?’ “It’s something I have done based on my belief. So even if I was gay, I do believe based on my belief that I feel that a heterosexual relationship is a right course of action for me. No one has forced you to be in a gay relationship. This is a decision that you have made.”

Unsurprisingly, she feels that LGBTQ classes do not belong in the classroom. She thinks it should be up to the parents whether or not such topics are taught to their children. Montague received a significant amount of backlash on Twitter for this:
