The title of the film is 'Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan', which means 'be extra careful with marriage', and it follows two young gay lovers in India.
In the trailer you can see Ayushmann Khurrana, the main character of the film, with a rainbow cape and armed with a megaphone. He shouts that his lover's father suffers from "a disease with no cure": homophobia.
The scene is clearly meant to be humorous, but in contrast previous Bollywood films, the gay characters are not the butt of the joke.
The film's writer and director, Hitesh Kewalya, said the 'controversial' subject matter had to be portrayed. According to Kelwalya, humour was the best way to tell the story so that it would become 'accessible' to the general public.
