The organization looked at the technical suitability of the location, surrounding facilities, availability and financial contribution of the municipality. Rotterdam emerged as a favorite. Responsible producer Sietse Bakker gave the following explanation about the choice: "With Rotterdam as the host city of the Eurovision Song Contest, we are not only choosing a city with a special story and undeniable vigor, in our opinion it is the most suitable location to produce the three TV shows. "

Now that the location is known, all parties involved can get to work: Rotterdam as a city, South Holland as a province, and Ahoy as the venue are now starting the further preparations needed to ensure that everything runs smoothly in 2020. All parties involved were informed at half past eleven. The dates on which the Eurovision Song Contest will be held have also been announced: the semi-finals will take place on 12 and 14 May, with the grand finale on 16 May. Who will be presenting: will be announced before Christmas.

Earlier this week: the directors were chosen who will produce the live shows. The choice fell on two very experienced directors: Marnix Kaart (52) and Marc Pos (50), who have previously been in control of major Dutch TV productions such as: Idols, Holland's Got Talent and the Televiziergala. Both directors are jointly responsible for the three live shows, nine dress rehearsals and the camera plan for the more than 40 participating acts that are only known a few weeks in advance. With more than 180 million viewers, the Eurovision Song Contest is one of the largest TV shows in the world.
