The iconic artist is touring the world with his Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour right now. As soon as he is in Paris this week, French President Emmanuel Macron will award him the Legion d'Honneur. The Légion d'honneur, fully the National Order of the Legion of Honor, is the highest and most important French honour that can be awarded to a citizen.

His concert will take place in Paris on Thursday. The next day he will receive his award at the Élysée Palace. According to the French president, Sir Elton is "a piano virtuoso, melodic genius and a true showman" and someone who "dared to come out as one of the first artists in the business and has meant a lot to the LGBT community".

John's life is currently brought to life in the critically acclaimed film Rocketman with Taron Egerton starring in it as Elton.
