OUTtv broadcasts the Emmy Awards Show live and exclusive in The Netherlands

On Sunday 22 September the annual presentation of the most important TV prizes will take place in Los Angeles: the Emmy Awards! OUTtv is the first Dutch television channel to broadcast the 71st presentation of the Primetime Emmy Awards live for the first time.

The American TV awards are presented in 27 categories in Los Angeles in the presence of the world's best actors, presenters, entertainers and writers. The nominations were announced earlier this year; the Dutch actress Carice van Houten can win prizes in the category "Best female guest role" because of her rendition of Melisandre in the HBO series "Game of Thrones".

The LGBTIQ+ community is strongly represented this year with different nominations, which was the reason for OUTtv to let viewers experience this event LIVE this year. In the category "Best Presenter", among others, TV icons RuPaul and Ellen DeGeneres have been nominated. The Queer Eye program, the Pose ballroom series, the RuPaul's Drag Race reality series, RuPaul's Drag Race Untucked and Will & Grace with Jack's Big Gay Wedding also have a chance to win a golden statue.

For the first time in Emmy history, the award show will not be presented by presenters, but the focus will be on the nominees and the winners. Various jubilating series will be featured during this festive evening. The live commentary for the Netherlands is provided by OUTtv reporter and connoisseur of the American TV- GJ-Kooijman.
