LGBT activists urge Sarah to boycott the Eurovision

sarah-mcternan-ireland-eurovision[1]
Highly Involved LGBT+ activists from Ireland are calling on the Irish McTernan to withdraw from the Tel Aviv song festival as part of the "Boycott Divestment, Sanctions" (BDS) campaign against Israel due to the ongoing Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The activists sent a letter and opened it with "We think we should write to you to express our deep concern about the political use of the Eurovision Song Contest this year being made by Israel, and in particular the issue of Pinkwashing.'' Sarah has not given a public response and is currently in Moscow for a Eurovision preparty, so it does not seem that the 25-year-old singer will follow the advice of the activists.

Madonna[2]
Sarah is not the first to be called to boycott her performance; Madonna also had to deal with this. She was urged to boycott her performance by various groups, including the Palestinian Campaign for the Academic and Cultural Boycott of Israel (PACBI). Alia Malak of the PACBI said: "We hope that Madonna is on the good side of history by refusing to let her music and image be exploited by a regime desperately craving the money laundering offered by the Eurovision Song Contest."
