Världens största tv-sända underhållningsprogram kommer till världens största musikpublik. Nu startas en asiatisk version av Eurovision Song Contest.

Eurovision Song Contest expanderar till Asien. Efter månader av spekulationer är det nu klart att upp till 20 länder framöver ska tävla om en plats i den stora finalen i Eurovision Asia, skriver ESC på sin hemsida.
 
Formatet är än så länge under utveckling, och i går lanserades en helt ny hemsida för ändamålet. Där vill arrangörerna att fansen ska tipsa om artister som skulle kunna ställa upp i tävlingen:
 
"Med sina briljanta popstjärnor, glamourösa mode och en enorm passion för popmusik är Asien och Eurovision som gjorda för varandra".
 
Formatet kommer inte att skilja sig nämnvärt från det redan inarbetade: de tävlande länderna framför sitt bidrag och vinnaren koras i en stor direktsänd final.
 
Eurovision Song Contest sändes första gången 1956 med sju deltagande länder. Tävlingen är numera världens största tv-sända musikshow och arrangeras av den europeiska radio- och tv-unionen EBU tillsammans med det land som tagit hem segern föregående år. Även länder utanför det geografiska Europa kan delta.
